The word transhumance comes from the Latin “tran,” meaning across, and “humus,” meaning land, and it signifies traveling across the land. Transhumance is the movement of people and herds.

Every year, the community of Bressanvido organizes a grand festival to welcome the arrival of the herds. Bressanvido hosts the longest vertical transhumance in Italy: the journey lasts three days, during which the herds travel almost 90 km.

On Sunday, September 24th, we will be there too! Join us from 3:00 PM with lots of activities and games while we await the arrival of the transhumance together.
