Despite its reddish-brown color and its relatively small size allow it to go unnoticed, this frog can be easily recognized by the long jumps it takes when bothered. In Vicenza the Lataste’s frog population is mainly concentrated in the resurgence area, where it adapted to watery habitats along streams where trees, hedges and small uncultivated areas can still be found. This frog is protected by international regulations such as the Berne Convention and the European Habitats Directive.
